Edits and deletes sync both ways between Jira and Slack

A synced conversation should stay clean on both sides. Fix a typo in Jira and the Slack thread updates to match; delete a wrong comment in Slack and it disappears from the ticket too — usually within seconds.

Add Threadmaker to Slack — free for up to 10 Jira users.

What syncs

If a Slack reply or a Jira comment is edited, the corresponding message on the other side updates within seconds. Deletes work the same way — deleting a Slack reply removes the matching Jira comment, and deleting a Jira comment removes the Slack message. The [Alice via Slack] attribution prefix stays and updates along with the edited content.

The per-project toggle

Edit and delete sync is controlled per project in Project settings → Apps → Threadmaker → Sync comment edits and deletes (default ON). Turn it off if your team needs synced comments to be immutable for compliance or audit reasons: edits and deletes then stop syncing in both directions — a Slack-side edit isn't written to Jira, and a Jira-side edit or delete isn't written to Slack. Comments created afterward still sync both ways.

FAQ

Can I make synced comments immutable? Yes — turn the toggle off. Edits and deletes then stop syncing in both directions; brand-new comments still flow.

Does deleting on one side delete on the other? Yes, when the toggle is on — a delete propagates across the boundary just like an edit.
